Appointments for Adults

It might be that this is your first time seeking therapy and you are unsure what to expect. Or perhaps you have worked with a therapist or counsellor before and have some idea of what it might be like.

Either way, I aim to answer any queries you may have before getting started. Please do get in touch if you are unable to find the answer to your question here.

Should we work together?

Please note that currently all appointments are taking place over video or telephone call.

To find out if we might be a good fit for working together, I offer a free 20 minute video or telephone introductory call where we can discuss what you are looking for and how I work with people.

Get in touch with me at BethStroyde@protonmail.com or click the button below if you would like to arrange this free introductory call.

Assessments

Full assessments can be booked following an introductory call. You will be emailed a link to the online booking system to choose a time that suits you.

The purpose of an assessment is to get a better sense of the difficulties you are seeking help with, sufficiently enough that I can make recommendations to you. Assessments may take 1-3 sessions in order to be able to do this.

Sometimes following assessment, I might conclude that I am unable to offer you the right service for your needs at this point in time. If this happens, I will explain why and advise you on suitable alternatives or other sources of support.

Making a Plan

After assessment, we will discuss what the focus of our work will be, how long we might work together, and what this may look like (such as type of therapy). Through the course of therapy, we will periodically review how it is going and consider if we want to be doing anything differently in the service of your goals and needs. Sometimes we may decide to continue beyond our initially agreed number of sessions or to end sooner.

Starting therapy can feel a bit daunting, but it may help to know that it is very common to feel this way. I offer a confidential, professional, and non-judgmental space where the priority will always be helping you to feel safe and supported. If we go on to work together, I will be alongside you on your therapy journey in what is an active and collaborative process towards creating the changes you seek.
